| Truth is the most precious commodity in the world. |
| In the Book of Proverbs, Solomon admonished his readers with these words: "Buy the truth, and sell it not" [Proverbs 23:23]. Truth comes from God, who cannot lie, while falsehood comes from the Devil, who is a liar with no truth in him. See John 8:44 |
| Jesus Christ, the Son of God, told the people of his day, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" [John 8:32]. Truth is golden. Honest men search for it. Truth has nothing to fear. Truth has nothing to hide. Truth will bear investigation. It is the truth that men must believe. It is the truth men must obey. It is the truth by which men must live, and it is the truth by which men will someday be judged [John 12:48]. |
| Some men, like Pilate, will ask, "What is truth?" [John 18:38]. We know that God would "have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" [1 Timothy 2:4]. Jesus claimed to be "the way, the truth, and the life" [John 14:6]. This same Christ prayed: "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth" [John 17:17]. In our search for the truth that can save our soul, we need go no further than the Bible. |
| There are many good people in the religious world who are honestly mistaken, but when a man who is honestly mistaken hears the truth, one of two things must happen: he will cease to be mistaken or, he will cease to be honest. |
| It does little good to know the truth unless we are unwilling to obey, live by, and defend it. The only way under heaven we can purify our soul is by obeying the truth [1 Peter 1:22]. Friends, may we love the truth more and more, and the opinions of men less and less. |
